Snip, Snip!

I took Emily and Vinnie for haircuts tonight. Yes, you read that right. I took Vinnie for his first haircut. Now one could easily argue that he didn't have to have one just yet, but it needed evened out. And the hair around his ears needed cut ... so off we went.

I was certain that Vinnie was going to throw an absolute fit and be miserable the entire time. He had been a bit clingy in the afternoon and I didn't think that was a recipe for a successful first haircut. So I told Emily that I wanted Vinnie to go first as I wanted it over with. She wasn't thrilled, but she let him go.

The stylist put Vinnie in a little, old fashioned car and the boy was completely enthralled with the steering wheel. He didn't even complain when she put the cape on him. He still played with the steering wheel. The only problem was when he noticed the red siren on the top of the car and he decided he was going to stand up and get it.

So, we don't have a dramatic before and after for Vinnie, but he does look cute and it is a lot cleaner looking. Glad we took him. And glad that he was sooooo good.

Now Emily? More dramatic before and after. We've been struggling this week as she swims everyday at camp, but (according to Emily) she doesn't have time to brush out her hair afterwards. So lots of tangles and lots of tears later ... and we both came to the quick conclusion that it was time for another haircut. And it was time to go short again. Not just go for a trim. Matter of fact, once we got there, I had to talk her out of going shorter than we did. I don't think she knew what she was saying, but she was positioning her hand half way up her head and telling the stylist to cut all the way up there. LOL She would have been UNHAPPY!

However we got there, we are both thrilled with the results. I think it looks adorable and she loves it. And she is excited that now she has less hair to tangle. And bonus: her bangs are finally gone! Her hair is all one length now ... all around. We were so close with the last cut, but we definitely made it there with this cut. It only took 14 months.

And can I just say how much I love her adorable little gapped-tooth smile. It just is too cute!
